Conocí a Mayleen en la escuela. Siempre estaba llena de energía, risas, emoción y mucha actitud, como todavía es.
Nos hemos visto crecer desde que estábamos en primaria. Compartíamos en los recreos, las clases, estudiábamos para los exámenes, practicábamos coreografías, pero mis favoritas eran sin dudas las “pijamadas/karaoke/movie’s night” en su casa (y las fiestas también). Creo que hablo por todos nosotros, cuando digo que su papá tenía la mejor colección de películas cuando estábamos en secundaria.
Increíblemente, también asistimos a la misma universidad, así que hemos pasado por varias aventuras juntas y nos hemos apoyado en diferentes situaciones, incluso cuando hubo corazones rotos de por medio.
May también posó para mí como modelo cuando empecé mi negocio de fotografía y me ayudó en todas las maneras posibles, antes de irse a Madrid (y lo aprecié como no tienen idea).
Cuando decidió irse a estudiar al extranjero, admiré su determinación de alcanzar sus sueños, sin siquiera saber que encontraría a alguien que la vería como su propio sueño: Didier. Él estaba determinado a ganar el corazón de esta exótica latina, como al final lo terminó haciendo.
“La sensación del mundo”, fue adoptado instantáneamente por su familia y amigos panameños, por su humildad, personalidad, su amor por nuestra “plena” y carnavales, pero sobretodo, por el verdadero amor que tiene y le demuestra a nuestra amiga.
Parece mentira, pero el tiempo vuela y vaya que se va muy rápido. Mientras escribo esto, con lágrimas en mis ojos (todos saben que soy muy sentimental), no puedo creer que estamos aquí ahora, celebrando su boda y lo perfecto que son el uno para el otro, mientras te fotografío una vez más, pero esta vez luciendo como la novia más hermosa.
En estos tiempos, falta coraje para luchar por el amor y mucho más a tan largas distancias. Ustedes, amigos míos, son increíblemente valientes.
Les deseo una vida llena de felicidad, apoyo, aventuras, arroz con pollo, chocolate belga, amor y muchas bendiciones.

Este es el discurso que di en la boda de una de mis mejores amigas. Quise compartírselos por acá, junto a mis fotos favoritas de ese día, ya que fue un momento muy especial para mí.

I met Mayleen at school. She was always full of energy, laughs, excitement and a lot of attitude, as she still is.
We have seen each other grow, since we were in elementary school. Hanging out during recess, classes, studying for tests, practicing choreographies, but definitely my favorites were the sleepovers, karaoke and movie nights at May’s place (and the parties as well).
I think I speak for all of us when I say that her dad had the best movie collections of all, during high school.
We even went to the same University, went through some adventures together and support each other in times of heart breaks.
She posed for me as a model, when I started my photography business and she helped me in anyway possible with it, before leaving to Madrid (and I really appreciate it!).
When she decided to study abroad, I admired her determination to pursue her dream, never knowing she would find someone that will see her as his own dream: Didier.
He was determined to win that exotic latina’s heart, as he ended up doing.
“La sensación del mundo”, became instantly adopted by all of her panamanian family and friends, because of his kindness, personality, his love for our “plena” and carnavales, but most of all, because of the true and dedicated love that he has and still shows everyday for our friend.
Truth must be said, those days are gone and wao, they really flew by.
As I wrote this with tears in my eyes (you know we all are really sentimental), I can’t believe that we are here now, celebrating your wedding and how perfect you are for each other, while I photograph you again, but this time, looking like the most gorgeous bride ever.
Nowadays, it takes courage to fight for love, and even more when it is overseas, and you my friends, are amazingly brave.
I wish you both a life fulfilled with happiness, support, adventures, arroz con pollo, belgian chocolate, love and many many blessings.
